Sports Therapy specifically
focuses on the prevention of injury and the rehabilitation
of the patient back to optimum levels of fitness regardless
of age and ability. It is concerned with identifying
and maximizing quality of life and movement potential
within the spheres of prevention, treatment/intervention
and rehabilitation
It focuses on the rotation or deformation of joints
or muscles caused by engaging in physical activities.
For example during periods of back pain the core stability
muscles become weaker due to the reduction in their
use. Research has shown that people who take an exercise
programme which concentrates on these core stability
muscles show significant reduction in pain.
With the correct exercise programme these muscles can
be restored and the chance of the pain returning reduced.
This is just one of the benefits of our Pilates
for Back Pain classes.
